Oooo! It's even shot at Alcatraz!

 The Prison Pushup Series

Regular readers of this site know that it's no secret how much I love the Convict Conditioning series of books - so I really couldn't wait to get my hands on the two new (there will eventually be a total of SIX!) DVD and Manual sets ASAP!!!  My full reviews are on the Dragon Door site, so scroll down on that product page and see what I had to say about them (Spoiler alert: THEY RULE!)

Mosquito Repellent and Dragon Door Kettlebells - Problem and Solution!

Q: OMG!!! I wore some bug repellent and now the rust resistant e-coat is coming off my Dragon Door kettlebells and attaching itself to my wrists, arms, etc????  How do I make this stop??

A: Here in Florida we deal with extreme heat, humidity and... MOSQUITOS when training outdoors.   However, this year seems to be the Summer of the Mosquito Plague - at least here in Winter Park, FL during the early evening classes near the lake.   And they are SWARMING some nights - and we're forced to use bug repellent - which I hate, but it's a necessary evil.   I went with my old standby "Deep Woods Off"originally then experienced this "what are all these black splotches on me" phenomenon as well.   One of my small group participants must have really loaded up on the bug repellent because not only did the e-coat start coming off the kettlebells and attaching it to her arms, it also started sticking BACK ON the kettlebell and pulling on her skin!   Needless to say I had to find a solution.   Deep Woods Off and various other bug repellents that actually work, often contain a high concentration of the chemical DEET (C12H17NO aka N,N-Diethyl-meta-toluamide).  DEET, which being reasonably safe for proper use (don't eat it, fool!) has solvent properties and likes to break down certain things like paints, varnishes, plastics, man-made fabrics and related materials.

Fortunately there are alternatives!   Choose a bug repellent that uses Picaridin instead of DEET and you will not dissolve the valuable e-coat from your Dragon Door kettlebells or become a mosquito buffet.
